As we have discussed throughout our course together, all reforms that aim to improve education are guided by a theory of action. The espoused theory of action includes the underlying assumptions and principles that animate the reform. This final major assignment will ask you to move beyond the role of consumer of education reform to become a critical producer of change ideas. Your proposal should:
Define and frame a critical, relevant problem in education, using evidence from the course as well as one’s own research (all appropriately cited)
Propose a reform strategy to effectively address that problem that is anchored in research and knowledge of prior reform efforts
Detail how and why the reform is a better choice than other alternatives
Include how the success of the reform will be measured Articulate possible unintended consequences and steps taken to minimize their likelihood
